Lindsey's visit

Lindsey made a special appearance at the house last night - she's a working woman now, so we don't get to visit with her very much! She came over for dinner and our weekly "America's Got Talent"...Here's a shot with Caroline & Lindsey. In a phrase, "plumb tuckered out"...

speaking of "plumb tuckered"...

Black by popular demand...The Puppies!

Sorry Halbo, older dogs need not apply...

This post is all about the Bostons...those crazy, cartoon characters come to life. We write to today to celebrate the smiles that they give us. Truly, images on a computer screen can't do them justice!

Today was a fun day with Nick and the pups - Nick was home from work waiting on a roof person to come and replace some shingles (to stop a leak that was dripping in the living room). So what did the Bostons and Nick do? Well, Nick worked around the house and on school stuff that he put online for his class. The Bostons? Well, Lexi helped fold clothes...

and Otis, well Otis did what Otis does best...sleep! After Lexi's work was finished, she "squeezed in" a nap too, and then licked air...

Center, Defensive End, Linebacker, Safety, and now...Quarterback!

Yes, it's true, though he still plays the safety position. He's also the #1 kick-returner, though 8-yr-old kick-offs seldom get back to him that far! He seems to be a natural at that, except that he's not very fast. He's a shifty little guy, and has a knack for making people miss. If he can get those long legs moving, we may be on to something!

Nicholas had been the backup quarterback, and a few practices ago the coaches started putting in some passing plays. They had Nicholas run a few of them, and he picked them up very quickly. Next thing we know, Nicholas was taking all of the snaps in practice, and learning the running plays as well. Our scrawny little guy will make his first start at quarterback this Saturday! Please say a few prayers!

Who knows... :)

First Day of School!

As promised (over a month ago!) here are the "First Day of School" pictures for Nicholas &
Caroline.

Here is Nicholas with the all-star teacher 4th grade Mrs. Johnson (formerly known as Miss
Clark)! She married about a week after school ended in June, and we're all still getting used to her new name. Fortunately, she still the same awesome teacher! Almost all of the teachers at School "loop", which means they'll have the same class (for the most part) for two years. She taught Nicholas in 3rd grade, and now has him for 4th grade.

At School, all of the 1st graders go enter "Camp C" for their first week of school. Each student is assigned a "Camp C teacher" which is one of the 3 1st grade teachers. During that week, the 1st graders then spend large blocks of time with each of the 3 different teachers. This allows C School to assess each student, and then to balance the classrooms accordingly.

All summer, Caroline told us that her teacher would be Mrs. Griffy, who is a VERY fun teacher (her classroom feels like a Caribbean island, minus the steel drummer). Caroline's response when entering her room the first time was a dramatic "wow"...

Caroline & Mrs. Miller

She was assigned to Mrs. Miller for "Camp C", which she really liked. Mrs. Miller even has two Boston Terriers, named Weasley (for Harry Potter) and Yoda (for obvious reasons). Way up on the cool pole for us!

Still, when that first Friday came and we learned who her teacher was...it was Mrs. Griffy! Caroline smugly replied, "I told you I was going to have Mrs. Griffy for my teacher." Who are we to doubt her?

Caroline's "Gone Tooth"

Caroline has such a way with words, and her very first lost tooth was no exception. Caroline bragged of a 'wiggle' in her teeth for most of the summer, and she would say, "I'm going to have a 'gone tooth'". Well she does have a "gone tooth" and she lost it her first day of first grade (last month--we are slack I know!!)

All I know is that the Tooth Fairy used to bring me "silver money", and now she brings "green monies"!

Go Tooth Fairy! And, go Caroline on losing her very first tooth, and getting her first "big-girl tooth." Good times!
